Work Experience

Work Experience is a program available to current CalWORKs recipients.The Work Expereince Program benefits worksites and participanphoto of various workersts by matching individuals with volunteer opportunities to gain work experience. Workers bring to the work place what they have learned in school, business or vocational settings. There is no cost or fee to the worksite or the participant.

As a participant in Work Experience
·You will learn new job skills,
·You will gain experience to add to your resume,
·You will meet prospective employers,

all while serving the community and meeting your CalWORKs obligations.

In addition to Work Experience, weekly workshops will give you the opportunity to learn and gain valuable insight regarding job search strategies and employment opportunities.

A variety of WORK EXPERIENCE sites and positions are available. However, work sites can be developed based upon your abilities and interests. Work sites are available through non-profit employers.

Possible positions include, but not limited to:
·Clerical, Office, Receptionist and related positions
·Sales and Retail
·Customer Services
·Childcare and Recreation Assistant
·Teaching Aide
·Kitchen Assistant
·Library Page
·Custodian, Maintenance, or Grounds Assistants
·Truck Driving
·Warehouse
·Medical Clerical Assistant

Work Experience can help you:
